As I write this, the news is reporting
about a tragic event in Brooklyn where seven children died due to the
lack of smoke detectors. Check your smoke detectors for proper operation.
Replace the batteries. Make sure at minimum there is one smoke detector
per floor and one outside of every sleeping area. Current code
calls for the above and one in every bedroom as well. As always,
your safety and security is foremost in everything we do. If you would
like some free advice on smoke detector placement, please call us.

Tips to Make Your Home Safer
When it comes to
your home and family, there is no question that their security is at the forefront
of your mind. As a result, you have put in a home security system that
features all the “bells and whistles.” While this is a great start, there
are a number of additional things you can do to ensure your home and
family are safe and secure.
In addition to
installing one of our state of the art security systems, you should also
do the following:
- Increase safety by installing a carbon monoxide
detector, checking for asbestos flooring and lead paint.
- Find any potential hazards in your home by making necessary
repairs and using security features on a regular basis, such as
reinforcing your windows, installing high quality security lighting
and bolstering the door locks.
- If your home is older, you should be sure to have the
wiring checked since this issue causes millions of dollars in
property loss each year.
If you have not yet
installed a home security system, you should call us right away. We use
the latest technology to ensure your home is safe and secure. We can also

The Domination of
Home Automation in 2015
Automation was one of
the biggest stars in the latest Consumer Electronics Show. There were a
number of big names touting their new products, which led to a bit of
confusion about what was the best out there. However, there is one clear
trend to the future of home security and efficiency, and that is
Believe it or not,
this picture of home automation is more focused on the practical rather
than the luxurious. Rather than the futuristic idea that all your
appliances and devices will work together seamlessly, the practical
picture is one where the home security system is the center with a number
of practical devices – such as light bulbs, thermostats, locks and video
–all being easily controlled all with the touch of a few buttons on your
In addition to home
security, the show also saw a number of wearable
technologies that are developing quickly and are designed to track your
activity, such as, smart clothing that will replace a personal trainer
and skin sensors that will let you know when you are ill.
The bottom line is
the latest trending technology is all moving toward automation – moving
away from manual, people-based interactions that are used today.
The Local Business Spot Lite: Horizon
Manor (Assistance with Living)
As we age we would like to maintain our independence.
In some cases people are self-reliant until the end of their lives, but
in many others health or age related issues and injuries don’t
necessarily allow for such independence. No adult wants to feel
dependent on their children or an impersonal healthcare system, we want
to maintain some sense of self-reliance and dignity. Families often
feel the same way, they don’t want to patronize their elders, but they
also want them to be taken care of. Wouldn't it be great if there
was a place that could provide quality care in a warm environment that
feels like home? Fortunately for New Jersey residents there is such
a place, Horizon Manor in Montclair, NJ.
Horizon Manor is a family owned and operated RHCF run by Keith Hach and
his mother Carol Cotugno.
There are two
Horizon Manor locations, both are in Montclair. They are
exquisitely modeled with care and quality reflecting a warm “Victorian
charm” that makes you feel at home. As a number of residents call
each location home, it’s important to maintain their safety and
well-being. Mr. Hach and Mrs. Cotugno had our experts at Perfect Connections, Inc. install a video
surveillance system, fire alarm, and work on their telephone system at
both locations. Our team also installed a surveillance system and a
fire alarm at Mr. Hach’s personal residence, a burglar alarm at Mrs.
Cotugno’s home, and provided monitoring services at both locations.
When I asked Mr. Hach how the systems have been working for him and his
facilities he said, “The facilities feel safe and secure with the service
he (Patrick Chrustinsky) provides.” In regards to Perfect
Connections, Inc.’s service he said, “(it’s) excellent, consistent, and
reputable. He (Patrick Chrustinsky) is a ‘hands-on’ owner.”
We have been providing expert security service to Mr. Hach, Mrs. Cotugno,
and their facilities for the past 15 years.
Q & A with Keith
Hach, Business Manager-Horizon Manor North & South
To find out more
about Horizon Manor and what it has to offer I spoke with Mr. Hach about
the two facilities. I wanted to know what makes Horizon Manor stand
out from other healthcare facilities. Mr. Hach said one of the
major differences is that their fees are all inclusive, there are no “a
la carte” charges. This means no extra charges for a guest who may
need medication 5 times throughout the day, incontinence care, and
everything in between its included in the price you are quoted.
Also, the atmosphere at both of the locations is like staying at a “Cape
May gracious country-inn.” Each guest can enjoy the comfort of a
beautifully decorated private or semi-private room, there are also suites
available. There is personalized RN-supervised nursing care
available to each guest as well.
How did Mr. Hach and
Mrs. Cotugno get into healthcare for the elderly? Mr. Hach and Mrs.
Cotugno have been in the healthcare business for the past 38 years.
Mrs. Cotugno had always had an interest in Geriatric Services and Mr.
Hach ended up receiving a degree in Gerontology. As previously
mentioned Mrs. Cotugno and Mr. Hach run two separate facilities in
Montclair, Horizon Manor North and Horizon Manor South. Horizon
Manor south can hold up to 14 guests and Horizon Manor North can house up
to 22. Mr. Hach and Mrs. Cotugno are also licensed by the State of
New Jersey and are a member of the New Jersey Association of Health Care
Facilities. Their services include 3 daily meals, respite care,
medication administration, chapel services, daily laundry,
Alzheimer’s/Dementia care, and so much more.
Horizon Manor facilities care for their guests by providing
a quality environment with hired professionals who treat them with the
respect and dignity they deserve. If you have a loved one or know
someone looking for a place where quality care is of the utmost
importance, look no further than Horizon Manor in Montclair, New
Jersey. To find out more about their services check out their
website at http://www.assistancewithliving.com/index.htm.
