How Security Cameras Can Help Prevent Cases of Workplace Violence

The occurrence of workplace violence or crime is higher than many people believe. The fact is it is something that can happen at any time, anywhere and to anyone. It’s estimated that more than two million workers in the U.S. are going to experience some type of workplace violence this year alone. Even though many crimes occur at the hands of someone unknown to the individual, other crimes may occur between coworkers.

Who is at Risk?

As mentioned before, anyone can be a victim of workplace violence; however, there are some people who are more likely to be victims, than others. Those at the highest risk include:

· Social workers or those in the healthcare industry

· Anyone who takes or exchanges money

· Retail workers

· Those working early in the morning or late at night

· Those who work in a high crime area

· Anyone who works alone

It is up to the employer to ensure they take steps to deter crime and safeguard their workers. One of the best ways to do this is with a high-quality security system. Some of the components to ensure are included with this system can be found here.

Adequate lighting. You can deter people from lurking in a dark or shadowed entrance or at the rear of a building by adding lighting to these areas. Bright lights can also help those who are a victim or those who witness a crime better identify the culprit.

Alarms. The easiest way to prevent crime is by installing a burglar alarm. This can do wonders when it comes to deterring criminals from trying to break into a building and do harm. It’s a good idea to use a monitored alarm, as it can identify the police of a situation right away.

Video surveillance. A high-quality video camera can provide you with a view of the crime being committed. It can also capture any type of worker misconduct or violence. What’s even better is that it works 24/7, providing a higher peace of mind than other security measures.

Access control. With access control you can dictate who can and can’t enter or interact with a business or those inside.

If you have yet to implement the security measures above, now is the time to do so. This can help prevent or at least reduce cases of workplace violence.

Is There an Increase in Vehicle Thefts and Home Burglaries in the Spring and Summer Months?

As the temperatures outside go up, so does the likelihood that your home will be burglarized. With warmer days ahead, there are new worries and concerns regarding your personal and home security.

While you may be looking forward to spending time with family and friends outdoors and the warm temperatures, nefarious individuals may be looking forward to this time, as well – but for an entirely different reason.

Why Do Burglaries Spike in Warmer Months?

One of the biggest reasons that burglaries go up during this time of year is because people are spending more time away from home. With favorite activities including:

· Time outside

· Picnics

· Vacation

· Family reunions

· Graduations

This increased amount of time away from home gives burglars the perfect time to strike. There are other factors that contribute to the increase of incidences, too, which include:

· Leaving your vehicle running while shopping

· Keeping windows open to allow air circulation

· Leaving your vehicle windows open

· Leaving the garage door open longer

· Not locking a sliding glass door

How Can You Protect Your Home, Car and Family?

The good news is, there are a few steps you can take to help ensure your car and home are protected during this time of year. Some steps to take include:

· Always lock your garage – even if you are home

· Clean up all yard clutter and the driveway to make your home less appealing

· Keep your windows and doors secure at all times

· Shut your vehicle engine off each time you get out of the it

· Install home security devices as well as anti-car theft equipment

By taking a few proactive steps, you can feel confident that your home and car will be protected, and you won’t be such an appealing target to burglars and other nefarious individuals.

How Innovative Technology Can Improve Your Home Security

Tech-savvy home security products have been available on the market for several years; however, there are many that have weaknesses that make your home vulnerable. Considering the fact that more than 7.6 property crimes occurred in 2017 according to the FBI, it’s time to take your home’s security seriously.

The good news is, those in the security industry have taken steps to improve the ways you can safeguard your home and family. Some innovative tools and techniques to consider using are found here.

Smartphone Integration

One of the main improvements to home safety is the ability you now have to keep an eye on what’s going on at home at any time and from any location. The majority of modern security systems allow you to interact and monitor your property through your smartphone. It doesn’t matter if you are on vacation or at work, you can receive updates via push notifications if something is going on at your property.

Infrared LED

Modern security cameras are only going to work if you can see who has come onto your property or into your home. While the tech for night vision has been around for years, the quality of video it provided was often grainy, which makes it hard to determine who was in your yard. However, by installing the high-powered, infrared LED cameras available today, you can get the high-quality footage needed – even at night – to identify the culprit. Even better, you can monitor the footage via your smart device.

Facial Recognition Technology

Even though law enforcement has been using facial-recognition software to help identify threats for a number of years, this technology is now available to you – the average consumer. You can utilize it as part of your home security system to up your home’s security.

If you want to gain more peace of mind that your home is safe and secure, then it is a good idea to implement the technology found here. Doing so will help you secure your home, property and family.
